Martin & Fluffy

I'm about to revise these characters, in a much more sinister way. Stay tuned. I did this mid 2007. I hope you can enjoy it.

David Lynch's Vocoder

I'm a big fan of David Lynch, I wish for his kind of success, people seem to compare what he does to what I do in a very relaxed way. My stuff is a lot more budget, ragged and b-grade, who knows, maybe one day I can be compared to him. I seem to be digging this new single by him. Something about the sound of his vocoder voice singing I wanna have a good day today gets to me. Simple and relatable I guess. For other vocoder glory check out Neil Young's Trans album. Nothing but the best times.

Entertainment

I think I was 19 when I made this. A little embarrassing in some aspects but kinda cool in others.

Time for a change

I walk a lot. A LOT. I must walk everyday otherwise I go crazy. People always offer me rides and I'm like, naaah, just going to walk, and they are like, walk? but its dark, I'm like, yeah, but its pretty and the council has kindly put lights everywhere. And then they are like, but its raining, and I reply, yeah but that is just water and I have a hood/hat. I have this conversation i think everyday. I don't think people realise how much I like walk and how much it does not bother me.  People also just don't believe that people walk. But they do. At least i do.

Wait, this isn't why I posted

When I was walking today I was thinking about my blog (which in itself is a frightening thought) and I was thinking that I should change this blog. From here on in I'm not typing anything I write. I t must all be on paper then scanned in. maybe I'll theme it. Maybe then I'll have more 'authenticity'. I dunno. I need distractions from my real work in order to do them.  Weird that. This might not happen, but it might. Do you care?

Panda Bear, oooo, lookie lookie

I love HD but I hate waiting for that render bar when I'm editing/experimenting with footage. But it does mean I can update this blog. What will I write about today? I will post this song by Panda Bear. It will be on the upcoming album Tomboy. Or so I'm lead to believe. Anyhow, I enjoy it so you might too.

Panda Bear - Slow Motion by ListenBeforeYouBuy

I drew while it rendered

Could of polished this. Instead here it is, a pencil doodle that I quickly went over with a new black pen.

I'm sure there must be a cartoon like this out there already. It is too obvious no?

The number plate says: HORNEB if you can't read it. Personalised number plates and their owners are the real joke here. I said I was going to bed an hour ago.

Just in case you haven't seen it

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wusGIl3v044?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wusGIl3v044?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

So, myspace keeps giving me this code that clearly does nothing. I kinda like it in a way, but also pissed that it happens. My life is completely reliant on technology at the moment. I find my life slightly frustrating right now. THIS CODE IS MY LIFE. I'm going to put on a play with Eli Matthewson about this kind of thing. I hope it turns out ok. It would be nice if I start with something decent rather than embarrassing and juvenile. It will be performed at the fringe festivals at Wellington and Auckland. We will look at doing it in Chch.

Is my life this code? Or will one day I will make it into a youtube clip.

Getting pretty deep n shit about a youtube code. Hope to make something soon. Must be just after midnight.

No-one wants to hear it

This is Seamass, too underground to ever be listened to:

http://www.last.fm/music/Seamass/Robotic+Organic

According to last.fm they are similar to With Moths who is underground but should be listened to:

http://www.myspace.com/withmoths

Who are in turn similar to Mount Pleasant, who you may of heard of already:

If I was you I would stick to With Moths and Mount Pleasant. Who knew CheeChee had bands?

The internet is a big place

Two of my films can be found on this website:

http://www.theodeon.co.nz/

Look at 'short films' and you will find "Creation (Morning Star)" and "Hutton Was A Butterfly"

You can find these on my Vimeo site as well. Hutton you can play on its IMDB page too.

Here is what The Odeon said about my two most experimental pieces anyhow, pretty much rave reviews:

Hutton Was A Butterfly:
WARNING: R13 A kiwi arthouse production. The sound's a bit jarring (intentionally so) but aside from the fact I got a bit lost around the plot I found some of the imagery really disturbing, almost reminiscent of a full-colour eraserhead, but less linear. Dramatic sky shots are particularly ominous.

Creation (Morning Star):
WARNING: R13 I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to say about this one. Part one of a series by Hamish Parkinson, in an art-house styled retelling of Genesis. Now, I found the first couple of parts hard going, but as you get further even without quite following I started to find it really compelling.

Since two of most strangest (and in terms of Creation most hated/liked pieces (I've had some extremes in conversation at parties about that one)) are on the internet I am inspired to hunt out my older films to show you my 'range'. I'll let you know how it goes.

For old times sake

This is one of the first things I made. I think third? I would of been about 16 or 17. My how little I've changed.

Welcome

Hello

This shit is getting real. Over the next wee while I will use this for my little thoughts on the things I'm doing. Pretty simple. Slowly I will bleed the things I've done, doing and planning to do on here. You should be pretty excited.

Love

Your Pal
